Carolina Street Connect: Tigo B
Multitalented, American rapper Tigo B has a unique approach to hip hop that draws from his Sierra Leonean heritage while infusing pop culture from his Raleigh, North Carolina upbringing. Born Monty Faulkner, Tigo B took immediate interest in all of the music around him. From hip-hop like Tupac and Biggie Smalls to alternative rock like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, even calypso and reggae have all influenced his sound today.
This North Carolina native began his professional music career in 2009. Songs with soulful melodies and lyrics showcase his versatility in combination with his rough, raspy flow and brilliant story telling abilities. Numerous collaborations with artists display his diversity. Namely, his work with Rico Barrino led to many musical successes, such as hit record “69” and a collaborative mixtape “Vibes” released in 2016.
His current single “CNN” and latest mixtape “Playa Trap” best represent the present-day Tigo B fans have grown to love. Tigo B proves to be a force to be reckoned with as he continues to build upon his extensive collection of mixtapes, singles and visual presentations.
