Sew Much Fun

When: March 15, 2017

Time: 1am to 1pm & 2pm to 5pm

Where: 831 South Church Street in Lowell NC.

BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that Sew Much Fun, a BERNINA Dealer in Lowell, N.C. will host a BEAR-NINA Sew-In event on Wednesday, March 15 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the store located at 831 South Church Street in Lowell.  Sew Much Fun invites the community into the store to make stuffed bears that will be donated to children with rare diseases through the RARE Science program.  RARE Science is a non-profit organization that works globally with patient families and foundations to help aid in finding cures for children with rare diseases.  The cost is $10 and includes all supplies including the pattern and fabric.  Attendees must bring their own sewing machines and are also encouraged to bring bright colored scraps of 100 percent cotton fabric.  To register, call (704)824-1961 For more information, visit http://www.sewmuchfun4you.com/.

 

21st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

When: March 18, 2017

Time: 11am

Where: North Tryon St. and 9th Street in Uptown Charlotte

Have big fun at the 21st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival on Saturday. This parade always brings out spectators hear the sounds of pipes along with a combination of flags, floats, kids, and pipe band music. Charlotte Goes Green Festival also captivates crowds as they enjoy a great day to celebrate.

2017 Sorority Greek Health Olympics

When: March 18, 2017

Time: 2:30pm

Where: Johnson C Smith University – Track & Field

This free “healthy” event is going to be fun and time of fellowship for the entire family! Street Safe Life Saving Driving Experience

When: March 18, 2017

Where: 3825 Johnston Oehler Rd. Charlotte, NC

Sign your team up today! The StreetSafe Lifesaving Driving Experience is a not-for-profit program. Their mission is teach young, inexperienced drivers – the most at-risk youth – to become safer and more responsible on the road by offering hands-on driving exercises, discussion sessions, and promoting parental involvement, with the goal of reducing the incident of accidents, injuries and death in young drivers due to motor vehicle crashes. 10th Annual Legend’s Luncheon

When: March 25, 2017

Time: 12pm to 2pm

Where: The Harvest Center located at 2225 Freedom Road, Charlotte, NC.

Faith in Action Community and Educational Transition (FACET) Services, Inc. is celebrating its 10th Annual Legend’s Luncheon. The theme for this year’s luncheon is “A Lasting Legacy Built on a Strong Foundation”, is an annual grassroots event to bring women together in celebration and service to each other.  Families from the YWCA’s Families Together Program and The Harvest Center will be gifted with household items, gift cards, and words of love, support and wisdom from the luncheon attendees to help them begin this next phase in their lives. The luncheon also serves as a means to acknowledge and honor the work of a community legend. The 2017 legend is Ella Scarborough who is currently Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners in Charlotte. The speaker for the luncheon is Rev. Sherian Carr who is the pastor of Thompson Chapel A.M.E. Zion

National Safe Place Week

When: March 25, 2017

Where: 1100 East Blvd Charlotte, NC

The Relatives will be celebrating National Safe Place Week from March 19-25, 2017 and will cap off the week with the annual Robert’s Walk and celebration. The walk will begin at Freedom Park and end at The Relative’s Youth Crisis Center with a free celebration to include safe place partner and community organization booths, free food, music, giveaways, and activities in order to bring awareness to the Safe Place program and commemorate the walk so many youth have made from crisis to safety.

Female First Responders Open House

When: March 25, 2017

Where: 1770 Shopton Road Charlotte, NC.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Recruiting Division will be hosting a “Female First Responders Open House” for the public. Female representatives and Recruiters of local first responder agencies will be at the event to provide career insight and information on the application process . Agencies in attendance will include the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Mecklenburg EMS Agency(Medic), NC Highway Patrol, and various Military branches. Recruitment Background Investigator Grant will be available to speak with various media outlets regarding this upcoming event and the importance of women first responders. College Fair

FREE Yoga Class For Cancer Patients & Caregivers

When: April 1st Fridays & April 14th – Monday

Yoga for Life is offering the gift of yoga with free weekly Yoga classes for cancer survivors and their caregivers. Yoga for Cancer classes is specifically designed to meet the challenges of cancer patients and survivors. They take place on Mondays, at 5:45 p.m., starting April 4th, 2016, and Fridays at 11 a.m., starting April 1st. Pre-registration is required. (This is not a free event, but sounds fun) This is a company-sponsored event, and employee teams can participate in a hands-on volunteer project at a Charlotte area nonprofit, keeping the Charlotte a great place to live and work! Companies can connect with other business leaders who value corporate social responsibility, employees will have fun and build stronger team relationships and get to know local conservation leaders. Victorian Lawn Party

When: April 8, 2017

Where: at 134 John Street.

Dr. and Mrs. Reid’s Lawn Party fun with  turn-of-the-century activities including games, demonstrations and crafts. Participants will make note cards and ring catchers. Gather around the Maypole, or compete in the cakewalk. Four antique cars from the 1920s and 1930s will be on display.

Where: 1894 Alumni Dr., Rock Hill, SC

This event will highlight great talent for a themed talent show featuring performances from various artist from a variety of genres. The theme of our show this year will be “taking over from the 99 to 2000’s,” to honor this theme we will be featuring artist such as TLC, Boyz II Men, New Edition, and Destiny Child. All the proceeds that we raise from this program will help supply school supplies for Boyd Hill Recreation Center and help provide a scholarship for one young student.
