Three people have been injured after the vehicle they were traveling in plummeted 40 feet off a bridge in South Carolina.

According to WLTX, the incident happened earlier today on the Highway 501 bridge. For reasons unknown at this time, the car drove through a concrete barrier — sending the vehicle into the Waccamaw River.

All three of the individuals inside the car were trapped and needed to be rescued by first responders.

Crews were able to safely rescue all three occupants within an hour and a half of the accident occurring.

One adult and two children between the ages of 10 and 13 were transported to a nearby hospital.

At this time, all three are in critical condition.
