The rapper spoke out after a report on USA Today was published that stated he was released from jail without being charged.

In a series of tweets, Nelly expressed his shock over the rape allegation. He went on to say he was the target of false accusations and he maintained his innocence.

He also took the opportunity to apologize to the people near and dear to his heart and took full accountability for putting himself in a situation where he could be accused of the falsehood.

He concluded the tweets by thanking his loyal fans for their support.

Due to the ordeal, Nelly will not be performing with Florida Georgia Line this evening during a scheduled stop in Washington during their tour.
