The oldest person in the world has now died at the age of 117. 

Miyako Chiyo, a woman in Japan, was born in 1901 and has passed away just after Guinness World Records recognized her as the oldest person alive and the oldest woman alive.

She was a chatty person who was patient and kind to others and loved delicious food, with sushi and eels being favorites, according to Guinness World Records.

Guinness has not yet confirmed who is now the oldest person in the world, but the title of the oldest man in Japan is currently held by Masazo Nonaka, who turned 113 this month.
