Lil’ Wayne is set to receive an honor at the BET’s I Am Hip Hop Awards.

Tunechi has had 4 platinum albums, and seven golds, as well as a ton of great singles. His features have been some of the most iconic of all time. It’s no surprise BET finally wants to recognize the talent.

On top of that, considering how hard Weezy F Baby has had it over the years, the feud with Cash Money Records, the seizures he has endured, etc, it’s better we honor Wayne NOW, rather than later.

While we await ‘Tha Carter V’ which is supposedly coming soon, the Young Money record label owner will be celebrating his own successes again soon enough. Which let’s face it: If anyone started from the bottom, and is now in the metaphorical “HERE,” it’s Lil’ Wayne.

If you feel like you're not progressing fast enough or are feeling discouraged, remember this: Lil' Wayne used to be a hype man. Stay the course.

According to XXL, “This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will take place on Oct. 6 at The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater, while the televised event will air on Oct. 16.”
