With a winter storm approaching the Carolinas, it’s time to get prepared for the possibility of snow and ice this weekend.

And by prepared, we’re not talking about running to the store and buying mass quantities of bread and milk.

Last night, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division shared a post on Facebook of supplies people actually need to prepare for a winter storm.

In fact, bread and milk didn’t even make the list.

Here’s the items you should gather for your emergency winter weather kit:

A flashlight and extra batteries
Weather/portable radio
Dried foods/pre-packaged goods that do not require cooking
Water
Common over-the-counter medication and prescription medication
Bandaids, first aid kit
Warm clothing and blankets, in case you lose power
Back up heating, in case power goes out
Fire extinguisher
