Several HBCUs across the country will get a much-needed boost from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc during Black History Month.
The sorority will be donating $1.6 million to 96 HBCUs over the next four years. This year 32 HBCU presidents, including Bennett College who is at risk of losing its accreditation, will fly to the AKA headquarters to get $50,000 for their schools.
The National Center for Educational Statistics is reporting that there has been a rise in undergraduate enrollment at HBCUs, some say the rise is caused by increasing racial tensions across the country.
