His devastated fans are now trying to make sense of the social media post.

The Grammy-nominated rapper and two other people were badly wounded outside Marathon Clothing about 3.20pm Sunday (local time).

Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Asghedom, was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the LAPD who are yet to make any arrests in relation.

While NBA stars and celebrities – including LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Drake and Rhianna –expressed their grief on Twitter, fans of the 33-year-old rapper were left trying to decipher a tweet of his own.

Just 90 minutes before he was gunned down, Hussle wrote: “Having strong enemies is a blessing.”

More than 200,000 users reacted to the tweet, theorising as to what or who Hussle was referring to.

“This is unbelievable, tweets that and then this happens,” one of his followers wrote.

Others pointed to the similarities in the slaying of fellow rapper XXXTentacion, who foreshadowed his own death in an Instagram Live video, talking about what he wanted his legacy to be after he died.

The LAPD said they presently have “no suspect info” into Hussle’s death, but are working to track down the shooter.

Hussle signed with Epic Records that year, although an album he reportedly completed for the label, South Central State of Mind, was never released and he left the label in 2010.

In the following years he collaborated with Drake on the song, Killer, as well as Snoop Dogg on the song, Upside Down.

He continued to release mixtapes over the years, collaborating with Rick Ross, YG, DJ Mustard and many others.

In 2016 Hussle released a song with
