Officials escort Riley Howell, the man shot and killed on UNCC's campus, back to Haywood County.

Riley saved other lives with his selfless act. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney said Wednesday afternoon that 21-year-old Riley Howell "took the fight to the assailant" after determining he had no place to run or hide in his classroom Tuesday afternoon at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

Howell's funeral will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at Lake Junaluska Stuart Auditoriam in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
