The New York State Legislature is discussing a bill on Tuesday that could ban cat declawing throughout the state. Cat owners, animal welfare activists, and veterinarians are in support of the potential law.

Declawing cats is illegal in much of Europe. Major US cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver also have declawing bans in place. Violators could face a $1000 fine if they declaw their furry babies. Veterinarians could still perform the procedure if the cat’s paw is injured or infected.

Are you for or against it?
