Pharrell is Embarrassed About Co-Writing Robin Thicke Song “Blurred Lines”
46 year old singer, song writer and fashion icon, Pharell Williams opens up about a song he’s “embarrassed by.” He wrote the controversial “Blurred Lines,” song that Robin Thicke performed. After that song came out, he said that there were older white women that would behave in a surprising manner, which would have him blushing. At the time, he didn’t understand what the issue was lyrically about the song. He said that the lyrics ‘I know you want it’— was the type of lyrics women would sing all the time. So he said, ‘What’s rapey about that?'” While not really understanding all the criticisms the No. 1 hit faced, then later on, he realized how that language was similar to language that is used by men “taking advantage of a woman.”
