The online retailer is preparing for 'Cyber Monday', as it predicts the busiest day for online shopping in the UK will fall on Monday December 2nd this year. On Cyber Monday in 2012 amazon.co.uk recorded over 3.5 million individual items ordered, which equates to 41 items purchased per second. The Peterborough fulfilment centre is 500,000 sq ft, equivalent to approximately seven football pitches in floor area. A.C. Moore has been servicing communities across the country with over 145 stores across the United States. Up to 40 locations that will close will become Michaels stores. A.C. Moore has been providing the community with the best arts and crafts materials available to make sure whatever the customer was working on or decorating look the best. “Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today’s environment, it made it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a national level.” Says CEO Anthony Piperno. The online store will stop accepting orders this coming Monday but all orders placed prior to Monday will be shipped.
