According to a study that was just done Charlotte has been ranked as one of the least safest city in the state of North Carolina. Charlotte ranked as the 53rd safest city in the country, but behind Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Durham. St. Louis, Missouri ranked number 180, meaning it is considered the most dangerous. The new members of the Charlotte City Council were sworn in Monday night and discussed what they are doing to stop the increasing violence in the city. Mayor Vi Lyles said in January, the council will take a deep dive into the data to try to determine the neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence this year. In addition, some of Charlotte's most high profile murder investigations will be examined in a new season of the Investigation Discovery true crime series "Homicide City."
