7x pro bowl, 5x All-Pro first team, 2013 Defensive Player of the year, 2012 Rookie of the year, with so many other accolades at the age of 28 Carolina Panthers defensive captain Luke Kuechly is stepping away from the NFL. 2015  Kuechly signed a five-year, $62 million extension with the Panthers, becoming the NFL’s highest-paid middle linebacker by annual average salary.

In the 2016 season in Week 11, he suffered a concussion that kept him put for the rest of the season.  He still made the Pro Bowl that year with over 100 tackles.
