On Tuesday morning Jussie Smollet, 37, had been charged yet again for the for the alleged hate crime attack against him in January 2019. Special prosecutor Dan Webb found Smollett guilty of six new criminal felony charges on disorderly conduct.

He is already facing a civil lawsuit from the city of Chicago for $130,000 in reimbursement for the cost of investigation as well as other cost that round up to half a million.

Smollett said two masked men shouted racial and anti-gay slurs, poured bleach on him, beat him and looped a rope around his neck. He claimed they shouted, “This is MAGA country” – a reference to President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan. He also stated that he could see one of the men was white because he could see the skin around his eyes.

Soon after , the story unraveled and the ‘suspects’ were identified as two African American males who are in fact brothers. One actually worked on Empire and the other was Smollett`s trainer.

Police said Smollett paid $3,500 to the two men.

Prosecutor Dan Webb stated “It declared that “further prosecution of Jussie Smollett is the interest of justice.” The statement also said that “several factors went into this determination, including the extensive nature of Mr. Smollett’s false police reports, and the resources expended by the Chicago Police Department to investigate these false reports.”

Smollett is due in court on Feberuary 24th and will be facing jail time.

Jussie Smollett is known for his role on Fox`s hit show Empire. He plays the role of Jamal Lyon. Due to the scandal, Smollett has been absent from the show and supposedly will not be returning for the final season that will be airing March 3.
