Lamar McLaughlin said he bought a 2015 used Kia optima and only had the car for one whole hour. He backed into his driveway, sat in it for a little while, just admiring the new vehicle, then finally went into the house not less than a hour passed and someone called his phone from a number he didn't know and told him that his car was fire. He didn't know that kia had recalled over 200k vehicles due to electrical concerns. Kia recently agreed to settle lawsuits involving noncrash fires. The company agreed to pay customers with certain vehicles $758 million, and McLaughlin’s year, make and model is one of them. The court hasn’t approved the settlement yet. Stoogenke will tell you if it does so you can apply for that money. Here's a video with growing concerns of kia's catching on fire without being in accidents.
