Nicki Minaj’s Husband, Kenneth Petty Pleads Not Guilty, Forced To Surrender Passport

As we previously reported, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty was arrested by U.S. Marshals on an indictment for failure to register as a sex offender, as gossip site TMZ reports. On Wednesday (Mar. 4), Petty was in federal custody, after reportedly turning himself into the Marshals.

While facing a judge on Wednesday, Petty pled not guilty, according to TMZ. Prosecutors wanted to place Petty on house arrest. However, his attorney objected and Petty is now being required to wear an ankle monitor.

He also now has a curfew. Petty was released on a $100,000 bond, as The Shade Room reports. He also will be under pretrial supervision and was forced to surrender his passport. Petty’s travel is now restricted to Southern California, and he can’t use drugs, including cannabis from legal dispensaries in California. His next hearing is scheduled for March 23.
Petty was pulled over by police in Beverly Hills back in November and that’s what started his legal issues. On November 15, 2019, Beverly Hills Police Department made a traffic stop and determined that Petty was a registered sex offender in New York State. However, the convicted rapist hadn’t registered in the state of California, which is required. Petty was released on a $20,000 bond. In 1995, Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape and served almost four years in New York state prison.
