North Carolina health officials reported record numbers of new cases of the coronavirus for a fourth straight day yesterday.

It stands at 1,002 confirmed laboratory cases within a 24-hour period. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services also reported an increase of 17-more COVID-19 hospitalizations yesterday, which reached a new record of 846-people. Hospitals across the state are reporting 21-percent of in-patient beds are available and 23-percent of ICU beds are available. the state is considering making masks mandatory.

Meanwhile, over the past few days, Memphis, Tennessee; Montgomery, Alabama, and Fayetteville, Arkansas have already made masks mandatory in public. Cities in Arizona now have approval from the governor to require masks in public. Oregon’s governor said yesterday that masks will be mandatory for more than half of her state’s population. And Tulsa County, Oklahoma, where President Trump holds a rally Saturday, reported its highest number of new coronavirus cases yesterday.
