T.I. Says He Wants To Battle Jay-Z and His Catalog Is ‘Doper’ Than 50 Cent’s
T.I. recently appeared on All Def’s Roast This, and said that he wanted to battle Jay-Z and that his catalog is “doper” than 50 Cent’s.
“I gotta be honest with you man. I want Jay. I want Jay!” T.I. said during the segment. “But let me ask you this. Who can see Jay sitting down doing a [expletive] battle?”
“If I’m a billionaire I’m not about to do that either,” T.I. said regarding Jay-Z. The Atlanta rapper then began comparing himself to Queens rapper 50 Cent.
“Me and 50 ain’t too far off as far as our bankroll we’re neck and neck,” Tip said before asserting that his catalog was better than 50’s.
“And another thing it’s personality. I need somebody who has a personality that won’t be intimidated by my bravado. It’s based on one thing. I’m doper,” T.I. said comparing his music to 50 Cent’s.
“I don’t care who sold what or how many records or how many number ones… I don’t care nothing about that. I think my catalog is doper,” Tip asserted.
He then talked about how his catalog “from all the way to 2001 to all the way to now.” The Atlanta artist and reality TV star said that he has a diversified appetite for music, and that “I got that. Classics.”
On Tuesday (July 7), Tip also took to Instagram to wish 50 Cent a Happy Birthday, but to also playfully troll the rapper.
“Happy Birthday 50!” T.I. wrote in his Instagram post. “We love POWER / For LIFE/ BMF & everything u doin on [TV]. Now pull up and catch this Trap Muzik fade big fella….”
Tip also tagged Verzuz TV, Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland in the post. “Repost if you ain’t scared of this n—- [50 Cent]. Hook this s— UP‼️ I AINT SCARED OF THIS N—-.”
It’s currently uncertain if Tip wants to battle Jay-Z or if he truly wants to battle 50 Cent. However, trap music fans might argue that the appropriate battle perhaps would be against Gucci Mane being that the two Atlanta rappers have beefed for years regarding who created and commercialized trap music.
