That upscale cocktail and tapas venue will occupy roughly 2,000 square feet on the third floor of Bianco Tower. The five-story midrise building is located at 123 Fifth St. Family-owned real estate development and management company Bianco is behind that project.
“This concept fits into my vision — just as the others we signed — because it filled a void in the area,” says Vijay Bhojwani, president of Binaco. That Fifth Street location resurrects Queen and Glass. Owner Cory Duran closed that craft cocktail venue and sister concept, The People’s Market, in February.
Duran says the plan was always to reopen those establishments; he’s currently finalizing locations for The People’s Market.
“We always felt we had a good product,” Duran says. “I think we always felt we were Charlotte’s best-kept secret.”
Queen and Glass expects to open in the first quarter of 2021. It will share space with another Duran concept, Fleur Noire Coffee, which will operate during the daytime hours.
Duran feels Queen and Glass will be a good addition to uptown, delivering an intimate experience and focus on food and craft cocktails. “We are very excited to have them, as well as all the followers that heard they were heading to our building,” Bhojwani says.
Others tenants at Bianco Tower include Saku Yakitori and Sushi Bar — a type of Japanese pub, upscale cigar bar Havana Smoke & Reserve, and Novelty House Rooftop
