First Ever Car Free Housing Development Coming To Charlotte

Ready to live car-free? If you are ready to give up your wheels you might be able to live in Charlotte very affordably.

Tons of affordable housing units will be up for grabs in Charlotte but there is that one teeny tiny catch, you can't have a car.  Charlotte's first-ever car-free development was approved by the city council last night 6-5. Tenants who get a car will be asked to leave.

The development will be next to a greenway and there will be spaces for bikes and lockers. The development does not even have a parking lot. So we are wondering, what do you do if people come to visit? Will they have to find nearby parking and call an uber. This certainly is a commitment but it's kind of cool. Could you actually live with no car or truck and no need for anyone to come to see you that does travel by car? Interesting! It is not unprecedented and has worked in other large towns.
