The fast-food chicken sandwich wars don’t appear to be letting up anytime soon. McDonald’s is set to debut three chicken sandwiches next week, and now Burger King is ready to enter the battle.

BK just announced that they too will be adding a chicken sandwich to their menu, with theirs featuring a hand-breaded breast “for a bite that is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.” The sandwich comes on a toasted potato bun, with pickles and a savory sauce, and customers have a choice to make it spicy and add lettuce and tomato.

So far Burger King only says the sandwich will be added to menus “later this year,” noting theirs “will be worth the wait,” and that they took their time because they didn’t want to “half a—the process.” It’s reportedly been in development since 2019 and has been tested in cities like Phoenix, Miami, and Huntsville, Alabama since September.

But that’s not all. It seems Wendy’s has just added more entries to the chicken sandwich wars. They’re launching the Jalapeño JPopper Chicken Sandwich, featuring a spicy chicken fillet, with creamy jalapeno cream cheese, jalapenos, Applewood-smoked bacon, cheddar, and pepper-jack cheese.

They also debuted the new Jalapeño Popper Chicken Salad, which joins their other chicken options, the Spicy Chicken, Classic Chicken, and Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken sandwiches.
