Weekdays 3:00 PM-7:00 PM

Juneteenth is this Saturday, June 19th, but my friends at Coble’s Landing are kicking the celebration off TODAY (Wednesday, June 16th).

Bring the family out for live music, bounce houses, great food, vendors, and more!  And the best part, this Juneteenth Celebration is absolutely FREE!

If you are unfamiliar with Coble’s Landing, let me fill you in.  This black-owned private nature preserve sits on 25 acres and features hiking trails, fishing, a picnic area, a mini atv trail, campgrounds, and a gazebo facing the water.  It’s the perfect place to disconnect and experience nature!

Juneteenth is an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.  It marks the day, June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galvaston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is considered the longest-running African American holiday.
