Its a FREE Juneteenth Celebration beginning on Friday, June 18th and ending on Juneteenth, Saturday, June 19th. DJ Sativa will be spinning live. Saturday will have live music from DJ Steel Wheel and DJ Fannie Mae along with performances by Leone, LP7, Chocolate Kndy, TRS, and Sh8kes.
All weekend long there will be food, fun, and informative health and community resources. And did I mention it’s FREEEEEEE ALLLL DAY! (and it’s Bluz’s Birthday Kick Off so make sure y’all stop by and tell him Happy Birthday!)
Juneteenth is an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day, June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galvaston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is considered the longest-running African American holiday.
