I love a good yard sale. I think I was a tressure hunting in my past life. Something about drumming through people’s old junk just brings me joy.

Since I moved to Charlotte I haven’t explored the yard sale or garage sale game, but after discovering these statistics from Lawn Love I just might! A recent list of the best cities in 2021 for yard and garage sales revolved Charlotte ranks number 26.

Taking the number one spot, St. Louis took the spot because it hosts the most sales. Two Hoosier State cities — Fort Wayne and Indianapolis — landed in the number two and number three spots, respectively on the list. Four of our top ten cities for yard sales and garage sales are smaller cities with bigger yard sizes. What does this mean? Well, larger lawns can host bigger yard sales, and as a navigator, you have more chances to find some hidden gems.

If you have been looking to do a little exploring here are some tips to remember. Safety is number one. Never go yard sale or garage sale shopping without telling someone you trust. You never know what could happen. It is also important to remember when you are going to a yard or garage sale is to go early, map out or use a GPS for your stops and always bring some extra cash in a safe spot.
