I’m ready to live in my truth…
Last year, I decided I wanted a dog. (Blame the pandemic.) So I hopped on Facebook and asked my Facebook family where I could purchase a Yorkie. Immediately, I began to get comments like “Don’t do it Jessica” and “You might want to rethink this Jess!” I didn’t listen. I found a Yorkie and immediately put a deposit down.
I anxiously waited for about 3 months before I could get him. Unfortunately, my little puppy began to have seizures the day before I was supposed to pick him up. The breeder said that she was taking him to the emergency room and would keep me updated. The next morning, I received a text saying my puppy had passed away. I was heartbroken.
I called my sister (who was also in the process of getting a puppy), stepped in and we began calling breeders to see if anyone had any Yorkies. I left messages with about 4 different breeders and laid down to take a nap. When I woke up, I had 1 new text message, “Hi Jessica. I actually have 1 male Yorkie available. If you want him, he is yours.” I was so excited! The next day, I hopped in my car and drove 2 hours to pick up the cutest little Yorkie I have ever seen.
I got home with my adorable dog and immediately understood why y’all told me NOT to get a dog. I WAS SKRESSED!! I had no idea what I was doing. The dog wouldn’t stop barking and he peed in my house. Now I know what you are thinking, that’s what dogs do Jessica. And my response to that is…..Leave Me Alone! (rolling eye emoji)
After 3 and a half days of barking, peeing, and my attempt to crate train, me and the dog were on I-85 headed to Atlanta to my brother. That’s right Nosey Neighbors, I gave the dog to my brother, sister, niece and nephew. AND I DON’T FEEL BAD AT ALL! They wanted a dog and I had one. Everyone wins. Now, my niece and nephew have the dog damn near fully trained! Like sit, stay, roll over….all dat! And he is even potty trained. I almost want my dog back. ALMOST!
I say all this to say, yall was right! I was wrong. Or was I? Maybe i just got the wrong type of dog. What y’all think about a Maltipoo?? Check out some pictures of my, I mean my niece and nephew’s puppy below.
