Happy National Radio Day: Ms. Jessica Remembers Her Favorite Radio Moments Over The Years

Today, Friday, August 20th, is National Radio Day.  Last year, I shared pictures of some of the amazing celebrities that I have met.  (Click HERE to check out the photos).  This year something different came to mind.  Something more important.  The amazing opportunities and experiences I have been blessed with throughout my radio career.

I mean seriously, who else can say that they have sung with the greats like Anthony Hamilton, Fantasia, Rapsody.  Yall, I even sung "Melodies From Heaven" to Thee Kirk Franklin!  I made a hilarious parody with Donnell Rawlins called "Top Off The Lotion". I tried my jokes out on John Henton.  I have traveled all over the US.  Im talking Florida, Chicago, and LA on multiple occasions.  I planned community events like my annual Big Cut and Boo Bash.  I scaled down the side of high rises in Uptown Charlotte to raise money for important causes.  (SCARY!). I helped coordinate a HUGE concert in LA with Stevie Wonder as the headliner.  I have gave amazing friendships and mentors.  I had a conversation with the Legend Dick Gregory.  One on one, just me and him.  I even interviews my parents for the 1st time!

But it was this year, 2021, that brought me my happiest and most memorable "radio experience" to date.  While my parents were in town visiting, I surprised them by bringing them to the station to show them our newly wrapped station vehicle with their baby girl's face on the side.  When we pulled up, my father looked at me with the biggest smile and said, "Now I have to take a picture of that!"  My mom immediately started sending the picture to all her friends.  BEST FEELING EVER!

I am truly blessed to be living my passion which is not only radio, but engaging with the great people of the Carolinas and helping to build our community.  To everyone that has supported me on this radio journey, a million thank yous wouldn't be enough to express my gratitude.  I love each and every single one of you more than you will ever know!
