A high school teacher in Los Angeles has come under fire for hanging up banners in his classroom that read “F*** the Police” and “F*** Amerikka“.

The unidentified Alexander Hamilton High School teacher’s position has come to light after a concerned parent shared photos of the classroom adornments with the nonprofit group Parents Defending Education. The “F*** the Police” banner also includes text that reads in part, “Policing is a violent, anti-Black, settler institution that originated as slave patrols. Their primary mandate is to protect property and to militarily enforce White supremacist capitalism,” the photos reveal.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has released a statement that reads, “L.A. Unified is aware of the specific classroom decorations. The specific posters will be taken down. We maintain and uphold student and staff confidentiality and therefore cannot comment on any of our students or employees.
