February 5th kicks off the Lunar New Year and North Carolina this is your chance to ring it in. Highland Brewing Company is ready to celebrate the start of the year of the tiger. For the third year in a row, the brewery is collaborating with Seattle-based Lucky Envelope Brewing Company.  This year’s collaboration is a Cold IPA called ‘Water Tiger IPA’. You can try it on Saturday, February 5th from 12 – 9 PM at the brewery Taproom. Highland Brewing is located at 12 Old Charlotte Hwy in Asheville.

In addition to the new brew, Highland has some other activities planned to welcome in the Lunar New Year in North Carolina. The first 88 visitors to the celebration will receive a lucky red envelope with good luck and prizes inside. Additionally, a bonfire will be set up outside where you can write down your intentions and burn them for the new year. Enjoy your Water Tiger while listening to live music from Laura Blakely & The Wildflowers and munch on food from Bun Intended.

Leah Wong Ashburn, Highland Family-owner and President, said, “The Lunar New Year brings back childhood memories of massive dinner celebrations at home. It was a heroic effort by my mother to honor my father’s Chinese heritage. This time is especially meaningful to my father who fondly recalls extensive feasts and family events growing up in a Chinese community in Jamaica.”

She continued, “Our cross-continent collaboration linking Chinese craft brewery owners demonstrates the pursuit of connection in the craft beer industry. Beer has always, and will always, bring people together.”
