April 30th marked 3 years since the shooting on the campus of UNC Charlotte that took 2 lives and injured 4.
The school and the entire community will come together Friday and Saturday to remember Riley Howell and Reed Parlier. Friday evening at 5:40 p.m., two wreaths – one for Howell and one for Parlier – were placed in front of the Kennedy building and remain there for 24 hours.
It’s one of several events scheduled over the next 24 hours to honor the students and remember what it means to be Charlotte Strong.
In addition to the wreath ceremony, there was a memorial dedication ceremony at 12:15 p.m. Friday in the Botanical Gardens. There was also a challenge for students to run, walk or jog 4.9 miles, as well as a community art mural and a yoga and mindfulness session.
