Paramedics were called to a middle school in Iredell County after officials say several students ate Delta 9 THC gummies yesterday.  The gummies were brought in by a student at Lakeshore middle school and school officials are saying that the students who ingested the dummies did show by choice.  Of course they did because they're kids and thought that they were eating regular candy.  School officials say student who bring, ingest, or use illegal substances can be expelled, suspended or face criminal charges.

The problem I have with this story is no one offered a solution.  Immediately the first thing they think of is punishing the children.  These are kids who may not know better and it might not get any better when they're at home.  Not one time in this story did an administrator say they will offer help to the child or see what's happening in their life outside of school before threatening them with being expelled.  Nobody is willing to take time to help people anymore, all it is today is if you don't do things my way you have to get out of the way.

What are some ways we can help students who get in trouble instead of automatically throwing them to the wayside?
