People Frustrated due to Flight cancellations and delays leaving them stranded
On August 11th, 2002 US Airways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. They were given a government-guaranteed loan through the Air Transportation Stabilization Board and were able to exit bankruptcy the following year. After the September 11th attacks, the Washington-Reagan airport was closed for an extended period of time, which caused this problem.
Around the world this past Saturday 2,500 flights were cancelled leaving people upset, frustrated, and stranded. People are saying these cancellations are due to recent storms, staff shortages, and just summer travel. Charlotte Douglas International Airport saw 359 delays and 97 canceled flights Saturday. On Friday, the airport had even more: 573 delays and almost 300 cancelations.
Charlotte Douglas Airport says if you’re next in line, especially with Juneteenth and Father’s Day celebrations coming up, plan ahead.
Arrive two hours early for your flight, three if it’s international. Book parking online to get ahead of the curve.
