Burpie’s Thoughts: Teaching Tuesday
As a football coach you will always face criticism from people whether it comes from the media, social media, fans in the stands or whoever. When you coach high school kids trying to encourage them to become better people in this world along with teaching them how to become athletes, as that fan criticizing the coaches you don’t go after the students. As an adult that makes no sense, you let the coaching staff handle the things that happen in house.
As a parent don’t reach out to me telling me what you think I need to do as a coach to change up the roster or the depth chart and also don’t reach out to other kids on the team telling them that they aren’t good enough to play and don’t need to be on the team. As adults we need to build these kids up and try to instill confidence in them instead of trying to tear them down, then when they grow up and things don’t go the way they want for their lives we want to blame society or everything else except for the fact that we didn’t mold them properly when they were young.
To that person texting my phone wanting to talk crazy grow up, sit on the sideline and just watch your child play, you don’t have to be annoying because I’m not the one to keep on NOT saying anything. Coaching is a hobby for me not a career. Chill out. You can listen below to what I had to say about these types of parents.
