5 airplane etiquette tips you need to know

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – APRIL 24: The interior of the new Boeing Dreamliner 787 as it sits on the tarmac at Manchester Airport during it’s tour of the world on April 24, 2012 in Manchester, England. When you travel, it will make you think of so many things the world may need to know from your perspective. Mine includes 5 tips for great airplane etiquette.

Honestly, I could teach a class on this. I recently took a flight and we have to understand that things happen. My return flight on a recent trip was delayed five times. Of course I wasn't the only person affected and because of that it caused me to come up with some great etiquette tips.  I'm sure you maybe able to figure what one or two maybe, but when you hear mine, they will all be more appreciative if you've ever thought of them.

5. Everyone has an airport story as to either why they are rushing or need to change their seat or need to board early. It's the last one that really grinds my gears. If you're in group 4, or 5, or even later than that, what's the need to line up when group 1 is called? You're not going to get on any earlier more than likely because 1-4 are usually priority boarding. Plus, it creates extreme cluster and chaos at the gate. It's hard to figure out where the line starts and those whose group has actually been called, it's difficult to get through everyone else just to make it to the front.

4. The next one centers around complaints.  My flight had been delayed for hours and so had others. We are all frustrated. When you get on the plane, taking out your frustration on everyone else on the plane just won't help. There was one gentleman on the plane that continued to complain over and over again. It was to the point that it got other passengers irritated. Some people suffer from extreme anxiety and the slightest frustration could really put them in a bad space, so be courteous.

3. Headphones, headphones, headphones! Most airlines will either sell you a pair for like $5 bucks, and most cases, they will give it to you. There was a gentleman sitting next to me on the plane. He was watching Tik Tok, which totally his right. However, he didn't have any headphones. Sometimes people may want to nap or just frankly, everybody doesn't want to hear someone else's phone.

2. This next one shouldn't need to be said, but I know I need to say it. If you are sitting in front of someone, yes, the seats do recline but they do not rock. Remember there is a tray behind your seat that someone may have a drink in. If you attempt to turn your chair into a rocker, it may not end well for the person behind you. On my flight, that happened to me. The passenger ended up sitting still eventually, however, it is still a pain!

1. This very last one is an absolute no brainer, but it obvious it still needs to be said. When the plan taxis into the gate, everyone doesn't have to stand up. It won't get you from the back to the front any quicker nor get to your bags any quicker. Thank you!

I had a ball making this list and some of it has a comical tone to it, but I would bet you it's very real for some. Drop your comments below.
