Taco Bell Gets Hit With Lawsuit Over Skimpy Fillings
Last year, a New Yorker ordered a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell because he believed it would have a thick, enticing coating of ground meat and beans like the one in the commercials he had seen. Instead, what he received for his $5.49 had him quoting a long-gone slogan from another fast-food restaurant: “Where’s the beef?”
According to a class-action lawsuit filed by Frank Siragusa in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on behalf of himself and other clients who were dissatisfied with the popular fast food chain’s Mexican Pizza products and Crunchwraps, the amount of filling in such items is inadequate.
For claimed violations of the statute against unfair and deceptive trade practices, Siragusa accuses Taco Bell of “unfair and materially misleading advertising” and is requesting upwards of $5 million from the restaurant business.
The lawsuit stated, “Taco Bell’s actions are especially concerning now that inflation, food, and meat prices are very high and many consumers, especially lower income consumers, are struggling financially.”
