Meet The Talented Singer, Songwriter, & Producer Durand Bernarr (your favorite cousin on your daddy’s side)
Who is Durand Bernarr? If you aren’t familiar with this singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ, let me put you up on game.
Durand Bernarr is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in a musical rich family. His mother was a professional music teacher and vocal coach. His father was an audio engineer who has works with the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Whitney Houston.
In 2008, Bernarr began to share his musical talents with the world. He would post videos on YouTube doing covers of popular songs by Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, and more. In 2009, he released his 1st mixtape called “alcoholharmony: The Mixt@pe“.
He followed that up with his 2nd EP in 2010 titled, “8ight: The Stepson of Erykah Badu”. It was a compilation of Badu covers. Durand cites Erykah Badu as one of his greatest influences so imagine his excitement when Badu messaged him via twitter and hired him as a background vocalist in 2011. Most recently, Durand served as the opening act for Badu during her “Unfollow Me” tour.
In 2019, Durand competed on the music competition series, “The Next Big Thing” on BET and finished as one of the top 3 performers. In March 2023, he and his band (dressed as characters from the popular cartoon “The Proud Family“), received rave reviews for their “Tiny Desk Concert”. Check out the performance HERE.
Today, Bernarr Durand is on the road with his 16 city tour, “My Bad For Taking So Long…The Wanderlust Tour Continues” and his next stop is Charlotte, NC. And it’s a special stop too. Durand will not only be performing tracks from album “Wanderlust”, which debuted at No. 1 on iTunes and Top R&B/Soul albums chart and No. 31 on the iTunes Albums chart (all genres), he will also perform a publicly rare music set as his alter ego, DJ TBD [BRA COLEY], in celebration of his birthday (September 16).
