North Carolina High School Holds Nation’s Longest Winning Streak in Basketball
The boys’ basketball team at Central Cabarrus High School is playing in their 2nd consecutive 3A state championship game. As if that’s not pressure enough, trying to defend the title that they won last year along with an undefeated 2022-2023 season they are also undefeated again this year trying to win back-to-back championships.
They have the nation’s longest winning streak in high school basketball. By defeating the Hickory High School Tornadoes in the state semifinal this past Tuesday Central Cabarrus won their 65th game in a row and look to continue that winning streak when they take on 71st High School this Friday, March 15th in Winston Salem at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum for the 3A state championship.
It’s been a long time since any school in the surrounding areas has won back-to-back state championships but Central is looking to become the first team from Concord to do that. They are ranked #15 in the nation and will be playing in a national tournament called The Throne in New Jersey later this month.
