Dollar Tree has been one of my favorite stores to shop for a long time. When I heard the news of the expected closure of stores is shocking.

Whenever my family travels, one of the first things we do before we leave and sometimes once we arrive at our destination is to go to Dollar Tree. We can get snacks for the kids and for us adults as well. We can even grab cups, plates, and more of household type items needed for the hotel or condo that we are staying in while out of town.

A few years ago we saw a major change with Dollar Tree stores nationwide. The store no longe carried items for one dollar anymore. Instead, as consumers, we saw a price hike from $1 t0 $1.25. Like other shoppers, I too was not happy about the price hike, however, I understand that the needs of a business can and always will change. When the needs of the business have to change, it's often passed on to the consumer.

The price change wasn't the only change we saw. The parent company of both Family Dollar and Dollar Tree made another major, yet great change. Locations started to pop up across the country that consisted of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar under one roof. I have to admit that not only was it a great idea, but I wish it had happened sooner. Often times I have gone to Dollar Tree and what I needed wasn't available, but it was available at Family Dollar.

Closing 1000 stores sounds as if it is another "needs of the business" change, but which locations are impacted is what I wonder about the most. There are a lot of Family Dollar and Dollar Tree locations in rural locations. The surrounding communities in those areas rely on those stores for goods. I hope they aren't heavily impacted but it's always a possibility. What are your thoughts?

The Dollar Tree Is Raising Prices From $1 To $1.25

Wait what? The Dollar Tree is raising its prices from $1 to $1.25. The change will impact most items in the store and go into place in early 2022. Does this mean they need to change their name to the Dollar Twenty-Five Tree? I mean the price is in the name. According to a news release this change will be permanent instead of just a temporary reaction to the ongoing supply chain and labor issues.

The news that Dollar Tree is raising prices is prompting a variety of responses from people. Take a peak at some of the best reactions:

But the company probably should have seen that coming...
