A new Black-owned bar and lounge is now open in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte. Taste Lounge, located in the heart of NoDa on North Davidson Street, promises a mouthwatering meal, exquisite drinks, the rhythm of live music, and a relaxed atmosphere.

The lounge is co-owned by Barry Brevard, Alvarez Powell, and Clarence Boston. They hope to create a welcoming vibe, a relaxed space for socializing and enjoying live music. They tell QCity Metro, they ultimately want to see people in and have a good time.

Highlights of the Menu at Taste Lounge

The menu at Taste Lounge features a variety of small-plate comfort foods, including:

  • Chicken wings
  • Flatbread with special hot honey sauce
  • Choose a protein slider (salmon, beef, chicken)
  • Deviled eggs topped with fried shrimp
  • Lamb chops
  • Collard green egg rolls
  • Oysters

Chef Olajuwon Whitley brings his culinary flair, particularly noted in his house version of Oysters Rockefeller.

Signature Cocktails at Taste Lounge

Among the exquisite selections on Taste Lounge's menu, they offer several unique cocktails, including:

  • Taste Berry (cognac and strawberry)
  • Butt Naked (vodka and peach liqueur)
  • A special rum punch

Ambiance and Atmosphere

The space is quaint and can accommodate about 70 people. Some of the stunning features of the lounge include the area around the bar, the velvet couches, and the lighting that is mostly dim. But there is also dynamic lighting that changes its color depending on the hour and events. Owners say this makes guests feel more comfortable and relaxed and adds to the ambiance.

Overall, the owners of the Taste Lounge intend it to be one of the popular spots for great tapas, craft cocktails, select DJ sets, and unmatched vibes. They say they want to create a sexy chill atmosphere where folks can gather not only for delicious food and drinks but will be able to socialize in a friendly environment. And they're anxious to bring this new night spot to an already trendy NoDa.
