#WGITH: Meet Alesha Brown, Founder of “For The Struggle”
On the 2nd Saturday of each month, I will be chatting with community leaders and activists to find out “What’s Good In The Hood“. This month, I sat down with Alesha Brown, Civil Rights Attorney and Founder and Executive Director of “For The Struggle”. Click HERE to listen to my full interview with Ms. Brown and to learn more about her mission to improve the lives of the youth and senior citizens living here in Charlotte, NC.
Alesha Brown is the Founder and Executive Director of For The Struggle, Inc (“FTS”). Alesha has worked with and for various organizations and has witnessed how many organizations benefit from the struggle without truly addressing issues identified by community members. She founded FTS in May 2019 with the goal of creating an organization that truly focuses on addressing community needs from within by partnering with members and leaders of impacted communities. It is the mission of FTS to zealously fight systemic issues of racial and social injustice by responding to issues identified by Black communities, advocating with and on behalf of such communities.
Alesha is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2009 as a Political Science major and Business minor and subsequently graduated from New York Law School in 2012. Aside from being the Executive Director of FTS, Alesha is an attorney practicing civil rights and civil litigation law at her newly founded law firm, Justice In Action Law Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. She provides zealous advocacy for her clients and believes in fighting for justice. Prior to relocating to Charlotte, Alesha practiced civil litigation at a firm in New York City and subsequently served as Counsel to the New York City Council’s Committees on Civil Rights and Contracts.
