LL Cool J and Eminem have joined forces to treat hip-hop enthusiasts with a blast from the past in their new music video, “Murdergram Deux,” which premiered on September 11. Directed by JakeTheShooter, the video is a nostalgic journey that pays tribute to key moments in hip-hop history.

LL Cool J, a pioneering figure in hip-hop, and Eminem, a leading modern rapper, shot the video in Detroit, Eminem’s hometown. The video features numerous references to classic hip-hop milestones. It opens with LL Cool J recreating the cover of his 1987 album Bigger and Deffer (BAD). Wearing his iconic bucket hat, LL revisits scenes from his renowned “Going Back to Cali” video, adding a twist to the original black-and-white imagery.

Eminem, on the other hand, channels Big Daddy Kane by replicating the Long Live the Kane album cover. Additionally, the video includes a recreation of the 1996 VIBE magazine cover featuring Death Row Records, further solidifying the video as a tribute to hip-hop legends.

“Murdergram Deux” is part of the promotional campaign for LL Cool J’s latest album, The Force, which was released on September 6. LL Cool J delivers lines such as, “Give blessings to my disciples, professional I’m a sniper / Like eight miles away, me and Marshall doing murders / With dirty burners, break them down and melt them in the furnace.”

The release of “Murdergram Deux” also faced some controversy. An unfinished version of the track leaked earlier in the year, which frustrated LL Cool J. He addressed the issue in an interview, stating, “It’s not A.I., but it’s not official. People just walk all in the kitchen, touching the rolls before they’re done.”

The Force marks LL Cool J’s first album in over ten years and features collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Saweetie, and Nas.

Looking ahead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are preparing to release a new album. Reports suggest that their upcoming project, Missionary, is set for release in November.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Dre shared that he is currently in the mixing phase. “I wanted 14 songs, Snoop wants 16, so we have that thing happening [bumps his fists together],” Dre said. “I’m on song number 11 as far as the mixes go. I have to be done and delivered by September 1st to have a November release.” He also mentioned that he recorded some vocals for the album, though he anticipates only one track will make it to the final version.

November is expected to be a significant month, as it will also mark the 31st anniversary of Missionary’s predecessor, Doggystyle. When Missionary was first announced in 2022, Snoop Dogg described it as a “30th anniversary to Doggystyle,” adding an extra layer of significance to the upcoming release.
