UNC Online Programs See 65% Jump in Students Through Project Kitty Hawk Initiative

Since the fall of 2024, three North Carolina public universities have seen their online degree programs grow dramatically, with enrollment increasing 65% through Project Kitty Hawk, a UNC System nonprofit created for adult learners.

Through 'Flight Path' degrees, 3,700 students who previously dropped out have returned to studies at North Carolina Central, Appalachian State, and East Carolina. Students now have access to 14 programs in high-demand fields like cybersecurity, nursing, and business analytics.
