A Gastonia Food Lion store pulled its fresh-ground beef products from shelves over contamination concerns. The recall affects meat grounds after 1 p.m. on March 1.

The affected products include all package sizes of: 73% Lean Fresh Ground Beef, 80% Lean Fresh Ground Chuck, and 93% Lean Fresh Ground Beef with a March 3, 2025 sell-by date. This only applies to meat from the store at 2211 N. New Hope Road.

Customers who bought the affected beef can bring it back to the store. Food Lion is offering double the purchase price back as a refund. Customers should look at their packages for dates and codes. The recall only affects this one location - other stores and products are safe.

This quick response matches how they've handled past issues. In 2020, the chain quickly pulled certain deli meats when Listeria concerns came up.

Store staff are working with safety inspectors to remove any questionable products. They've set up a customer service line for anyone with questions.

The double refund shows Food Lion is serious about making things right. This generous offer aims to restore customer confidence. All returns need to go to the Gastonia store. Fresh ground beef made after the recall is safe to buy.
