NASCAR driver Joey Logano stood with Huntersville officials to break ground on Town1. This new project will bring apartments, townhomes, offices, and stores to the area. It sits off Hambright Road near I-77.

The ceremony marked the start of construction. Town1 will transform land that Logano once used for fun into a space where people can live and work.

"This originally was just a place all about fun. And really, we don't want that to change, right? This is a place where my friends and I would come out here after work and ride four-wheelers and have a good time. And now it's going to be a place where you'll be able to live, work, play, eat, have a good time in just a different way," said Logano, according to Queen City News.

Town leaders approved the project earlier and praised what they saw. Officials liked the fresh approach.

The property once served as a spot where the driver and his friends would ride all-terrain vehicles after work. Now the site will serve a different purpose while still acting as a gathering place.

Several types of housing will go up alongside shops and restaurants. Residents can live, work, and eat in the same area.

Town1 sits near Interstate 77. This makes it easy for people who drive to work each day. The Hambright Road location puts the project close to major roads in Huntersville.

Municipal officials supported the project when it first received approval, and the design represents a move toward newer construction in town.
