North Carolina is home to some amazing, talented artists in the game. Coming out of the state are great rappers, producers, singers, and more in the music industry. From Da Baby busting on the scene to J. Cole holding it down for years, North Carolina is the birthplace of many talented artists.

Regardless, the talent coming out of North Carolina has been changing the game for years. Da Baby

One of the most known is Da Baby. Born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, he was raised in Charlotte, NC and it is also where he began his rap career.

J. Cole

J. Cole, born as Jermaine Lamarr Cole, was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he began his career. One his most famous albums named after his childhood home in Fayetteville, 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

Cordae

Somewhat newer to the scene, rapper Cordae was born as Cordae Amari Dunston in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Toosii

Toosii began his career in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born in New York as Nau’Jour Lazier Grainger.

Jermaine Dupri

Jermaine Durpri was born in Asheville, North Carolina. He began his career right here in North Carolina before heading to Atlanta to take things even further.

Stunna 4 Vegas

One of North Carolina's favorites, Stunna 4 Vegas was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. He is also known as Big 4x, Stunna, and Rich Youngin but his actual name is Khalick Antonio Caldwell.

Ashnikko

Ashnikko is a rapper, singer, songwriter who was born in Oak Ridge, North Carolina. 

Ron Killings

Also known as wrestler, R-Truth, this rapper was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. Killings has been in the hip-hop industry since 2001.

Lute

Lute was born Luther Nicholson in Charlotte, North Carolina. He began his professional career in 2012 and is a rapper and songwriter.

Rapsody

Rapsody is one of the most iconic female rappers of all time. She was born as Marlanna Evans in Snow Hill, North Carolina. She began her career in 2007 and has been killing it ever since!

9th Wonder

9th Wonder was born as Patrick Denard Douthit in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He began his career in the late 90s and known for songs such as “Dream Merchant Vol. 1,” and “Dream Merchant Vol. 2.”

Morray

Rapper Morray was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina as Morae Ebony Ruffin.

Tequan Richmond

Tequan Richmond was born Burlington, North Carolina. He is a rapper, songwriter, and singer. One of his most famous roles is in the movie, Let It Shine. 

Petey Pablo

Petey Pablo is one of hip hop's favorite rappers, songwriters, and actors. He was born in Greenville, North Carolina and started his career in the late 90s.

Randi Moultrie is a Charleston, South Carolina native and has been in the radio industry for the last few years in Charlotte. Randi started with Beasley Media Group as an intern in 2019 and is now thriving in the digital world.
