Rae Sremmurd Covers ‘Essence’ Magazine
Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd appears on the cover of ESSENCE magazine’s second digital cover.

The “Black Beatles” rappers shared the cover via their Instagram page.
“The ESSENCE digital cover man is just a wonderful feeling, “Swae Lee said in the behind the scenes video. “They chose these handsome individuals.”
“ESSENCE has been a big part of hip-hop, a big part of the black community for a long time,” Slim Jxmmi chimed in. “So to be recognized by ESSENCE is a big thing in itself. That’s great, especially because of where we come from, so salute to ESSENCE.”
Photographer Jasmine Jassieuo Durhal shot the photo shoot, where the brothers intentionally rocked black designers like Romeo Hunte and Pyer Moss.
“Support black designers,” Slim Jxmmi said in the behind the scenes video as he admired what he was wearing, a sky blue denim outfit by Pyer Moss.
Slim Jxmmi worried Rae Sremmurd fans in January when he tweeted that he was no longer a part of the duo with his brother Swae Lee, but Lee confirmed during the ESSENCE interview that although solo projects are in the works for the artists, they are in fact still a duo.

“As for Rae Sremmurd, we dropped three classic albums already; it’s time for the fourth. The fans have been patient. It’s time to give them what they’ve been waiting for,” Lee said. “And I’m about to drop a solo album, composed of all original music,” Jxmmi adds. “I hope fans enjoy it.”
Rae Sremmurd’s latest studio album was the triple release, SR3MM, which was released in May 2018. The project featured a full-length album from the rappers as a duo as well as full-length albums from both brothers individually.
