Gabrielle Union Finally Speaks Out About ‘America’s Got Talent’ Firing
Gabrielle Union made headlines in November for being fired from America’s Got Talent. Allegedly, she was fired for speaking out against racism, sexism, and the show’s alleged toxic environment. Among other things, there were reports circulating that Union was criticized because her rotating hairstyles on the show were “too black.”
Now Gabrielle Union is finally talking about the incident. According to TMZ, the actress was at a Power of Inclusivity and the Women Leading the Charge panel and indirectly touched on the situation. Union urged the crowd to not “Be the happy negro that does the bidding of the status quo.” She said, “It’s terrifying. There’s a solid chance you’ll lose your job … I speak from experience. How many checks do I need? This financial freedom, they’re shackles, masquerading as zeros in my bank account.”
