Reactions To Cam’Ron’s Weird CNN Interview
One of the weirdest CNN interviews ever occurred last night (May 20) when they booked Cam’Ron as a guest. The “Hey Ma” rapper, 48, was booked for the interview, but it seems as though whoever was the talent booker was didn’t tell his team that they were just interesting in asking him about Diddy‘s legal issues.
As we recently reported, when footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie from 2016 dropped, s— hit the fan. Around 8 p.m. from Las Vegas, Cam’Ron is asked what he felt after seeing the footage, and as he first made it clear that the video was “egregious.” Regarding the charges alleged against Diddy, he said, “Domestic violence, I’m totally against it.”
Cam’Ron Repeats His Stance Against Diddy
The rapper added that though he knows Diddy, Cam’Ron makes it clear he’s “not necessarily a friend.” He reiterated that he was upset after seeing the footage. As we reported, the security camera footage showed Diddy running in a hotel hallway and grabbing Cassie, who was standing outside of the elevators. Seemingly looking as though she was trying to leave, Diddy grabbed her by the hoodie or the back of her head/neck and threw her onto the floor. While wearing a white towel around his waist, he kicks her repeatedly.
The video, which CNN obtained, showed court documents that during this incident, Diddy was “extremely intoxicated” and punched Cassie “in the face, giving her a black eye.” After he fell asleep, the documents stated that was when Cassie attempted to leave, and the footage shows how Diddy attempted to stop her from doing so.
Going back to the CNN interview, Cam’Ron was visibly getting annoyed by anchor Abby Phillip for asking if he “recognized” Diddy’s anger in his experience with the “Bad Boy For Life” rapper. He snapped, “What you mean my experiences? I’d seen him, and I thought it was disgusting. I didn’t do a zoom-in to see if it’s really him or not, but he admitted it was him so.”
After the anchor asked what Cam’Ron thought about Diddy’s apology video, he said that it was up to Cassie. As he put it, “He didn’t do nothing to me.”
When The Interview Gets Really Wild
A little later in the interview, Cam’Ron is seen taking a shot, and after he downs it after two tries, he says he’s going to “get some cheeks after this horsepower drink.” The anchor quickly looks to the side at this wild statement, and at this point, Cam’Ron is over the interview. While plugging his podcast, It Is What It Is, and podcast co-host Mase (who was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records), Cam’Ron says they should ask him these questions.
Finally, Cam’Ron reached his breaking point. The anchor tried to press on for more of his insight on the “industry in general” about Diddy getting “away with this stuff.” Wanting to know if he felt the same way, he took a moment to collect his rebuttal. “Who the talent agent for this joint? Like, you think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do and all this?” he retorted. “I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that y’all invited me to.” Looking off-screen, he asks, “Yo, who booked me for this joint? Y’all wylin’.”
Reactions to Cam’Ron’s Wild CNN Interview
Taking to Instagram, he hilariously posted the part where he took a shot of the pink horsepower libido drink and tagged the brand. Writing in his caption, Cam’Ron said: “Oh they ain’t know???!!! We’ll now they do.”
Reacting to the CNN interview on X (formerly Twitter), folks went wild on how he handled the interview. One person wrote: “Yoooo cam’ron on cnn got me weak [crying emojis].” Another person hilariously said, “Someone at CNN was on their 3rd page of rappers by the time they called Cam’Ron.”
Meanwhile, one person praised the way he handled the interview. They said, “Cam’ron knows the code, never throw another man under the bus. CNN wanted him to talk dirty about Diddy & he just clowned them all, promoting his podcast & sex stimulant product. I stan a G [crying emojis].” Another person wondered, “Cam’ron asking who booked him for that interview was a valid a– question tho. Because whomst thought that was a good idea.” They then said, “But for real booking Cam’ron for that interview is a major ‘your newsroom needs more black people’ moment.”
Cam seemed to feel the same way. The next day, he said on his podcast (while wearing last night’s shirt) that CNN didn’t invite him to talk about the success of their show or “the positive stuff we do in the community,” but instead about Diddy.
He adds, laughing, “You gone call me for the bulls—, I’ma give you the bulls—!”
