Tiffany Haddish Reflects On Being Arrested In Beverly Hills
Tiffany Haddish reflects on when she was arrested in Beverly Hills, using comedy to move past the dangerous and embarrassing arrest.
The Bad Boys: Ride or Die actress was arrested in the early hours of Thanksgiving after she allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel of her Tesla. She was charged with a DUI. Gossip website TMZ initially reported that Haddish had previously performed at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood the night prior in celebration of the venue’s 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast for the community event.

On Wednesday (June 12), Haddish, 44, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and opened up about her DUI arrest. Host Jimmy Kimmel simply stated, “You got arrested, you were sleeping in your car.” Stumbling on her words for a moment, Haddish pauses and says, “Okay… I be tired, Jimmy, ’cause I do a lot, okay? I serve the homeless all day that day.”
Getting into detail, the comedian and actress said she woke up at 5:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving to work out and make a side for her family’s Thanksgiving dinner before serving food to thousands of homeless people at The Laugh Factory. After eating with her family, she received a call from one of her “rich friends” who didn’t have a meal because “they ended up firing the chef or whatever,” so she brought them some of her leftovers.
“I’ve learned a valuable lesson, I should have sent it in an Uber or sent someone else to take it there, but I wanted to take it there myself because I felt like there was an opportunity to talk business. So I went in, and I did have a drink, okay? And I was very sleepy,” she explained.
The Girls Trip star went on to explain that her Tesla drives itself, so she felt confident that it would respond to her sleepiness and pull over and park itself. She went on to say that she blew a .03 when the police arrived.
According to the California blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08% or higher. Even if your BAC is below legal limits, depending on how badly you are impaired, you may be arrested and convicted of a DUI even without a BAC measurement.
However, Haddish joked that after being arrested in Beverly Hills, she would commit any possible future crimes in the upscale city. “Most beautiful police station I’ve ever been in in my life,” she added. After explaining that she’s been to jail “many times” in her “youth,” she said she walked into her Beverly Hills jail cell and proclaimed, “This is nice!”
Haddish went on to say the toilets were “clean,” the water from the sink had “sparkling water,” and the police officers were “so respectful.” The comedian added that she could tell the police over there had “funding,” as the toilet paper was “made of organic rice paper,” so as soon as any moisture made contact, “it just disintegrated.”
